To facilitate participants' travelling to AsiaWorld-Expo (AWE), the event venue of ITU TELECOM WORLD 2006, Mass Transit Railway Corporation Limited (MTRCL) has introduced a special ticket - "TELECOM Connect" - priced at HK$370 (HK$7.8=US$1), with a stored value of HK$20, for the duration of the event.

Features

TELECOM Connect is a special edition Octopus card (a popular electronic ticketing system in Hong Kong) for registered participants of WORLD 2006. It enables users to enjoy unlimited rides on Airport Express (AEL) and Mass Transit Railway (MTR) lines, the most efficient mode of transport to AWE, from 28 November to 9 December 2006.

TELECOM Connect has the full range of functions of a normal Octopus card. Other than AEL and MTR, you can ride on any other local public transport (including Kowloon Canton Railway (KCR), franchised buses, green minibuses, tram and peak tram) with a simple "Touch & Go". Fares are automatically deducted from the card's stored value every time it is swiped. Users can add value at any MTR Station Customer Service Centre, and keep the card as a souvenir after the event.

Purchasing a TELECOM Connect

Participants can purchase their TELECOM Connect cards online via credit card by logging onto the ITU website:

How to Redeem Your Card

Upon completion of purchase, MTRCL will send you a confirmation note via e-mail. Please bring along the confirmation note together with your registered proof of identity (e.g. passport) to collect your TELECOM Connect card at the designated ticket redemption counters, located at the arrival platform of AEL Airport Station.

The opening hours of redemption counters are as follows:

0700 - 2300 hours from 28 Nov 2006 (Tue) to 3 Dec 2006 (Sun)
0900 - 1800 hours from 4 Dec 2006 (Mon) to 8 Dec 2006 (Fri)

Please Note:　these times are listed in Hong Kong Time.

All ticket redemption counters will cease operation when all TELECOM Connect cards have been sold and redeemed.
