Official Launch of the Host City Web Site
The Hong Kong, China Secretariat ("HKCS") officially launched its Host City Web Site for ITU TELECOM WORLD 2006 on 12 September 2006. This web site will provide the only official Chinese version of event news and related information on WORLD 2006, as well as details of Host City Services for participants.

Via this web site, the HKCS presents an additional platform for information flow among Chinese and international audiences. Messages will effectively reach the Chinese audience, including industry members and the media. Contact us if you would like to ride on this platform. Kicking-off Marketing Activities in Mainland China, Oct 2005
 
During PT Wireless/Networks Comm 2005,
Beijing, 18-22 October 2005
One of the major Host Country commitments in support of WORLD 2006 in Hong Kong, China, is the cancellation of PT Expo Comm or related events in 2006. PT Wireless/Networks Comm 2005 will therefore be the last international ICT event in Mainland China sponsored by the Ministry of Information Industry prior to the ITU TELECOM WORLD event next year. On this special occasion, a series of activities have been planned to promote participation of WORLD 2006:
 
  • Hong Kong, China Information Booth at the CIEC, Beijing
  • Presentations and outreach to exhibitors and the media
  • Launch Party on 21 October 2005 at the Kerry Centre Beijing Hotel

Business Facilitation Programme - A Prelude in Oct 2005
To foster understanding of the Chinese ICT market and enhance knowledge exchange, a Business Facilitation Programme will be launched by the HKCS shortly for participants of WORLD 2006 with the support of the MII and PTAC.

To get a quick preview of some essential elements of the programme, join us at the ICT@China Summit 2005, the first to be sponsored by the MII and organised by PTAC as a concurrent event of this year's PT Wireless/Networks Comm.

Theme: Development and "Win-Win"

Topics discussed include the development trend of the ICT industry in Mainland China, ICT policy & direction, integration, the industry value chain... etc.

Speakers include government officials, research experts in the industry and senior executives of enterprises. The Vice-Minister of Information Industry, Mr Xi Guohua, and Permanent Secretary for Communication and Technology, Mr Francis Ho, will be delivering opening remarks

Host Country Promotional Efforts
The strong marketing efforts made by the HKCS may be one of the key reasons why you cannot afford to miss WORLD 2006 in Hong Kong, China.

Committed to ensure fruitful participation of all stakeholders, since the inauguration ceremony for ITU TELECOM WORLD 2006 in Busan, Korea, during ASIA 2004, the HKCS has conducted a series of international marketing activities in support of the ITU's promotion of the event. Mostly riding on regional and major international ICT industry events, various receptions, presentations and meetings with clients were held both locally and overseas by the team.

  • In June, for example, a Hong Kong, China Reception was held in Chicago during SuperComm 2005, marking the kick-off of promotional activities in the US.
  • In July moreover, a reception was hosted by the Vice-Minister of Information Industry at the Chinese Mission to Geneva during which a presentation was done to ITU Council members from various countries, encouraging support for WORLD 2006. Click here.
 
Macao, 12 September 2005
Just two weeks ago, a luncheon was held in the Macao Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China, presenting business opportunities offered at WORLD 2006, which was attended by Macao's chief of the office of the telecom authority and key members of the ICT, education sector, media and related industries.  >>More
Strong efforts of the HKCS are also complemented by those of senior officials, other government departments and related bodies, as well as overseas offices of the Government of the HKSAR.
