ITU Exhibitors Meeting
The ITU held its Exhibitors Meeting for ITU TELECOM WORLD 2006 at the AsiaWorld-Expo on 21 March 2006.
 
Over 250 participants attended the meeting where the ITU and its official service providers presented on the overview of the WORLD event, opportunities and services for event participants.
 
Exhibitors toured the AsiaWorld-Expo and enjoyed a luncheon at the centre.
 
Mrs Marion Lai, Deputy Secretary for Commerce, Industry and Technology (Communications and Technology), presented the Host City services for event participants, highlighting the Business Facilitation Programme which aims at fostering understanding and facilitating exchange between overseas and Mainland industry members, including the Hong Kong ICT sector.

Vice-Minister of Information Industry
Encouraged participation of ITU Council members at WORLD 2006
during the World Telecommunication Development Conference (WTDC)
in Doha, 8 March
 
A China Reception was hosted by the Vice-Minister of Information Industry, Mr Jiang Yaoping, during the WTDC in Doha on 8 March. At the reception, Vice-Minister Jiang Yaoping encouraged participation of ITU council members at the WORLD 2006 to take place in Hong Kong, China this December.
 
Again, we reiterated our support for the Event organiser, the ITU, in a presentation at the reception, and highlighted the commitment of the Host City Secretariat to presenting a favourable platform for fruitful international exchange.
